Depression and Anxiety
Are you feeling persistent sadness? Do you struggle to feel excited about anything anymore? Are racing thoughts and out of control worrying making you tired, indecisive and irritable all the time? You do not have to remain stuck in this negative state. You, or your loved one may be experiencing depression and/or anxiety and professional help may be the answer if these problems are stopping you from functioning well.
In essence, therapy involves a purposeful conversation. However, we will go beyond just listening by using evidence-based treatments, tailored to your specific needs.
EMDR therapy for Grief and Trauma
Most people associate the term trauma with a catastrophic experience like war, a natural disaster, or a violent assault. We call those the Big “T” traumas. Big “T” traumas can typically lead to extreme symptoms of PTSD. Individuals experiencing those symptoms are more likely to be identified early on and receive psychiatric help.
It is the little “t” traumas that slip through the cracks. If you have lived through emotional abuse, bullying, harassment, relationship loss, or any distressing event that is impacting your ability to handle stress, you can safely call it a trauma response.
Everyone handles stressors differently. Although we are resilient as a specie, we are not without our vulnerabilities. The goal of a therapeutic relationship will be trauma integration by helping you identify and label root causes of your trauma and developing self-regulation skills in a safe and judgement-free space.
What is EMDR therapy?
As an EMDR-trained clinician, I work by directing your eye movements to help you relieve traumatic or triggering experiences in brief doses. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is a form of psychotherapy that helps people heal from complex trauma that is often difficult to heal from. The World Health Organization recommends EMDR and CBT since these techniques "help people reduce vivid, unwanted, repeated recollections of traumatic events" (WHO News Release, 2013). As an EMDR-trained clinician, I work with complex trauma with the goal of reducing the power of traumatic memories.
Many of us hesitate to discuss conflicts at home with strangers for a myriad of reasons. As a therapist, I am licensed to provide evidence-based couple interventions, while maintaining confidentiality.
I have completed Level 1 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help couples recognize and resolve everyday conflicts, stonewalling, and communication issues. As a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, I provide marital and pre-marital counseling to help you build a meaningful and resilient connection, regardless of the stage of your relationship.
The infamous time of ‘stress and storm’ of your adolescent may be wrecking havoc in your family life right now. If you are concerned about your child's well-being or are seeing behavioral issues, including self-harm and/or substance abuse, it is time to reach out for help.
Utilizing effective therapeutic interventions, I can help your teenager identify, label, and express their experiences and feelings in healthy ways.

Insurance: I am currently paneled with the following insurance companies:
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas
Please call your insurance to verify mental health benefits!
Out of Network Billing: Health insurance often provides some coverage for mental health services and I encourage use of all your resources to pay for therapy. Note that not all insurance plans are currently accepted. However, if you have an insurance plan that offers “out of network coverage”, you can submit a "superbill" that I will provide upon request, to apply for a partial reimbursement through your insurance company. A "superbill" is a specialized invoice, which includes the procedure coding, diagnosis coding and session dates that your insurance carrier will need to reimburse you. In this arrangement, you are responsible for full payment of my fees rather than your insurance company. Please check with your insurance before beginning therapy to see what type of reimbursement you can expect.
Financial Duress - Life can throw a curveball at anyone and the cost therapy can be very expensive for many. A very limited number of sliding scale options are available that may be offered if requested.
NO SURPRISES ACT
Effective January 1, 2022, laws regulating client care have been updated to include the “No Surprises” act, which requires a wide variety of providers to give current and potential future clients a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) on the cost of treatment. Per the law, a provider must furnish a self-pay patient with the notice and GFE prior to all scheduled services, or by request if the patient is shopping for care (and not yet at the point of scheduling). This includes, but is not limited to, office visits, therapy, diagnostic tests, infusions, and surgeries.
Who qualifies as a self-pay patient?
A provider’s duty to provide notice and a GFE applies to a self-pay patient, i.e., an individual who (1) does not have insurance benefits for an item or service under a group health plan, group or individual health insurance coverage offered by a health insurance issuer, federal healthcare program, or a health benefits plan; or (2) chooses not to use his or her coverage benefit for the item or service.
In many ways, this regulation protects patients from discovering, after they receive care, that they owe a massive medical bill for un-covered services. This makes sense from a medical point of view – we are all aware of the struggles a patient can go through after discovering their insurance does not cover some services or providers. For example, if an out-of-network provider gives post-surgical care at an in-network hospital, the patient could end up with a big out-of-pocket expense that comes as a complete surprise.
However, therapy is a different form of service where it is often difficult to provide an estimate of how long it may take to process trauma, address anxiety, or minimize depression. There are a number of variables that make it nearly impossible to quantify what will be needed. And there is no way to give a “good faith estimate” on whether or not a client will want to return for a follow-up. In an effort to quell confusion related to cost, before the first session of each self-pay client, a Good Faith Estimate form will be provided, with details of costs for each service type.
